Can a Bosch heat pump keep my home warm in winter?
Bosch's cold-climate IDS Ultra is rated to keep up to 100% of its rated heating output at 5°F with its matched air handler, and to keep heating at reduced output down to -13°F. Other IDS tiers have different low-temperature ratings, so we size the heat pump and its backup heat, electric heat strips or a gas furnace, for your home and our cold snaps.
What does IDS mean?
IDS stands for Inverter Ducted Split, Bosch's family of ducted heat pumps. The inverter compressor runs at variable speed, so the system can run longer at lower output instead of cycling on and off.
What warranty comes with Bosch equipment?
It depends on the product. In one- and two-family homes, Bosch covers IDS heat pump and air handler compressors and internal parts for 10 years (2 years for the connectivity gateway on connected models). Gas furnaces get 10 years on parts and a lifetime heat exchanger when registered within 60 days of install (otherwise 5 and 20 years). Climate 5000 mini splits get 10 years on the compressor, and 10 years on parts when registered within 90 days (otherwise 7). Bosch's warranties cover parts, not repair labor beyond a short allowance on some registered systems. The heat pump, air handler and furnace warranties are for the original owner, and every Bosch warranty ends if the equipment is moved from where it was installed. Are there rebates for Bosch heat pumps?
Rebates usually come from utilities and from state or regional energy programs, such as Energy Trust of Oregon. They depend on where you live, your utility, your household income, your home and the heat you are replacing. Programs change often, so ask us what applies to your home before you buy.
